What Is A Detox & Why Do I Need To Do One?

A detox is a nutritional plan that shifts your foods that you eat away from processed sources to simple clean ingredients. These foods are hypoallergenic whole foods  that are full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and probiotics.  The benefit is that this gives your body a break and allows it to reset itself.

How Do I Know If I Need To Do A Detox?

If you are feeling sluggish, feel bloated,  lost your glow or just want a refresh a detox is a great way to kick start healthy living.

How Often Should I Do A Detox?

I Recommend cleansing at least twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. I also suggest it after times when you travel, have a weekend away eating foods that you normally wouldn’t (girls or guys weekend) and or after having a time of having a few too many cocktails. Remember that you don’t need to strive for perfection just consistency!

What Are The Foods That I Remove On The Detox?

First it is important to remove all processed foods (packaged & “white” cereals, breads, pastas) as a given. Then to remove the 4 “Big Guns”

  1. Dairy
  2. Meat (fish is ok, if needed in small amounts)
  3. Gluten/Bread
  4. Sugar!!!

What Do I Eat During The Detox?

Veggies, Veggies, Veggies!!! Fruit, Whole Grains That Are Gluten Free (amaranth, brown rice, buckwheat, millet, oatmeal, teff, quinoa and wild rice), Nuts & Seeds, Beans & Legumes, Healthy Fats (avocado, extra virgin coconut oil (EVCO), olives, fish oil, flax oil)

Tip: Chia seeds are high in omega-3 fatty acids and Hemp seeds are rich in plant powered protein!

So if you want to slim down and sparkle simple have a smoothie for breakfast, a salad for lunch and a soup for dinner and voila your body will reset and you’ll be feeling wonderful in no time!
