MEDICAL THERMOGRAPHY TESTING
A heat sensitive “snap-shot” picture of the body or regions of the body to compliment traditional medical testing to aid in the early detection of disease or internal dysfunction. Thermography is a painless, non-invasive, state of the art clinical test, using an infrared camera to measure heat patterns and blood flow in body tissues without any exposure to radiation.

May be recommended to assess breast, thyroid, uterus, circulatory, or inflammatory concerns.

+What is medical digital infrared thermal imaging (DITI)? DITI is a painless, non-invasive, state-of-the-art clinical test, using an infrared camera to measure heat patterns and blood flow in body tissues without any exposure to radiation. DITI converts infrared radiation (heat) emitted from the skin surface into electrical impulses that are then reflected on a high-speed computer for imaging in color. The spectrum of colors indicates an increase or decrease in the amount of infrared radiation being emitted from the body surface. Since there is a high degree of thermal symmetry in the normal body, subtle abnormal temperature asymmetry can be easily identified. Generally, problem areas show high heat temperatures due to increased blood flow and increased metabolic activity. Unlike more familiar medical tests such as X-ray, mammogram or ultrasound, and MRI, which are tests of anatomy or structure, thermography is a test of physiology. It is a safe scanning method for the body including breast health, pain & inflammation, and cardiovascular risk. The test utilizes the latest imaging equipment and trained medical doctors to report on the images. Medical Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) has been used extensively in human medicine in the USA, Europe, and Asia for the past 20 years. Until now, cumbersome equipment has hampered its diagnostic and economic viability. Current state-of-the-art PC-based IR technology designed specifically for clinical application has changed all this. |
+Why do the medical thermography test? This test may be right for you if you would like to overview the body. Thermal changes are often the earliest sign of vascular disease; muscular, neural, and skeletal systems; immune dysfunction, and systemic inflammation. |
+Do I need a referral from my health care provider? No, you do not need a referral to have a thermography scan done. Simply book an appointment. |
+What are the common symptoms & conditions associated with medical thermography imbalances? The symptoms and conditions associated with thermography imbalances may include:
|
+What are the risks of developing Thermography imbalances? The principal risks of developing thermography imbalances include:
|
+How do I know which thermography test is right for me? Your Naturopath or Nurse Practitioner will help assess which test is right for you, including an analysis of the most cost-efficient path of testing. We recommend a New Patient Visit with one of our Naturopathic Doctors for the most comprehensive approach to your health or a Pre-Lab Visit for a quick snapshot prior to lab testing as there are many tests available. Lab testing alone is a one-dimensional picture of your health. The expertise of a health professional is required to create a three-dimensional picture for proper selection, and interpretation of lab testing. To complete your care we recommend booking your Post-Lab consult 2 weeks after testing to review your results and receive your tailored health plan. |
+How are these tests different than the test I get at my medical doctor’s office? Your medical doctor focuses on tests covered under OHIP. The tests offered here are currently not offered at medical doctor’s offices in Ontario. In addition, an in-depth review of your lifestyle, health, and other aspects of what defines your optimal levels are taken into consideration. |
+Is medical thermography covered under insurance plans? Medical Thermography scan images are interpreted by physicians trained by the American College of Clinical Thermography. Thermography may be covered through an Extended Benefit Plan, with the testing sometimes referred to as “Other Diagnostics”. Thermography reports are interpreted by medical doctors and maybe an eligible medical expense on your annual tax return. Naturopathic consultations are often covered by extended benefit plans. Please check with your individual provider for details and how to submit claims. |
+How are medical thermography imbalances treated? Your Revivelife clinician will review all findings and create a personalized plan for you based on what are the root causes of the Medical Thermography Imbalances. The use of tailored nutrition, essential oils therapeutically, acupuncture, or other integrative therapies are often advised. Additional testing including hormones, health & hormones, and Organic Acid Test (the test that assesses Microbiome, detox pathways, select nutrients, and neurotransmitters) may be considered to further investigate the potential causes of thermography imbalance. Referral for mammograms, ultrasounds, or other traditional medical testing is recommended where applicable. We recommend a New Patient Visit for the most comprehensive approach to your health or a Pre-Lab Visit for a quick snapshot before lab testing and a Post-Lab consult which is included in the thermography testing to review your results and receive your tailored health plan. |
