POWER FOODS TO MAKE WITH WHAT’S ON HAND
As I take this time to sift through what I have and what I need to get for fresh produce for the next week. I’d like to share some of my favourite recipes that use a combination of what you have and continue to try a few new recipes each week.
Nourishing food is sometimes hard to find time for. Now with more time at home. Enjoy recipes that use things right from your pantry and create a menu plan that you can use for busier times. Get cooking with these 6 nourishing and immune enhancing power recipes!
Recipe 1 – Pot of Gold Latte
Power Foods: Curcumin
This Power Food Latte is rich in turmeric that is a wellness wonder. Turmeric is the spice that gives curry its yellow colour and has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb. Turmeric contains compounds called curcuminoids, the most important of which is curcumin. Curcumin has powerful anti-inflammatory effects, is an antioxidant and helps to increase brain-derived-neurotropic factor (BDNF) which promotes cognition and brain health. So enjoy and be well! I recommend taking a few minutes to meditate before every meal, to promote your body`s release of digestive enzymes and optimal digestion. Add sprouts to boost up your digestive powers. Recipe 4 – Baked Crispy Chicken…Encrusted with Hemp Seeds!
Crispy Chicken never had it so good! Hemp seeds are the protein power house in these babies! Both kids young and older will love these! Hemp seeds have an excellent 3:1 ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids which reduces inflammation and promotes a healthy heart. In particular hemp seeds are high in gamma linolenic acid (GLA), an essential omega-6 fatty acid that has been shown to support hormone balance. Recipe
Recipe 5 – 5 Ingredient Oatmeal Banana Cookies
